For those Frequent Floaters who like to book their own excursions, American Express recently rolled out a targeted deal with Viator: for $40 back on a purchase of $200 or more.  Enrollment is required and terms apply.

I received the offer on my Amex Gold Card — but I imagine this is also offered on other American Express cards offering Membership Rewards points.  The offer is good through December 15, 2023.

This is an easy one to take advantage of as you can book virtually anything anywhere as long as it’s through Viator using your enrolled American Express card.  Just make sure that when you book your payment is made before the December 15, 2023 date.  On some excursions, Viator allows you to book now and pay later.  If your excursion is after December 15, 2023 you may want to consider pre-paying, just check the cancellation language.

I know a lot of us are looking forward to upcoming Caribbean cruises this winter.  Thinking back on some of our favorite excursions over the last few years here are a few that are bookable to take advantage of this offer.

Lots of ships stop in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico in Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Playa del Carmen.  Here are some of our favorite excursions at these ports:

We loved our excursion riding ATVs through the jungle paired with a trip to a cenote in Cozumel, Mexico.

And our trip to a Cenote and the famous Chichen-Itza Mayan Ruins.

If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, we had a blast on this speed boat and snorkel tour.

Less known (and less crowded) than Chichen-Itza is Muyil, one of the oldest, largest, and longest occupied Mayan settlements in the Yucatan.  This excursion combines Muyil with Tulum, a Float Down Mayan Canals as well as lunch.

Here’s the fine print:

And remember, even if you like to book your excursions through your cruise line, you can also use Viator to book ship transfers!  This is particularly useful in ports like Civitavecchia/Rome where there’s a great distance between the airport, city, and port.

Hope you’re able to take advantage of this deal!  – Michael
