I spent a great many hours, not at sea, but on land driving this week but boy was it worth it and every gallon of gas. What am I talking about? Just this:

This has been the week the US got into science because when the sun disappears, even for just 4 minutes, it gets everyone’s attention. For me I went to the INDY 500 racetrack to view the event but what really has me stoked is August of 2026 when I plan to view the next one on a ship! You?

Next up we have one that many thought was a delayed April Fools joke post (I don’t post those btw) but it was not. AIDA has a new program where you and your cabin mate can work 4 hours a day for a cruise discount. No really check it out (as crazy as it is).

If you are not able pay for your cruise in full with points then earning huge bonus points makes it so much better. Seabourn has a sweet 50,000 point offer and shows the reason to check your Amex offers before you book.

Private island and beach clubs are all the rage in 2024 and Royal Caribbean has more on the way. Our RCI man MJ has his thoughts about what is on the way.

I keep harping on the value of (often) going for big card offers so that you too can cruise like I do for almost free. The way to do what I do is lots of points and you really should check out the hotel card offer Chris highlights this week.

I have some really neat cruise reviews coming up this summer including a first for me and I can not wait to share. Until then have a great weekend everyone no matter where you are! – René

  1. A 2026 Eclipse cruises with Iceland and Greenland in the itinerary is ideal. I do not believe there had been a direct flight from DFW to KEF since 2018.
