Just a real quick post today as I want everyone to be alert to the fact that today December 13th is the closing date for no less that 6 Different SkyMiles Experiences cruise auctions.

I blogged earlier how these auctions really have me reconsidering my choice to burn up all my Delta points down to almost nothing and have over the past few months steadily been adding Delta Amex cards to my portfolio (just for the new card bonus offers – not to hold long term) and will cancel each one once the yearly fee (year two) bills.

Happy cruising everyone! – René

  1. question – do the points have to already be in one’s account prior to bidding (I can transfer points from other programs)? I’d hate to transfer points to Delta, only to lose the bidding war.

    • @klsd – I believe yes you need the points to bid. I would accumulate points via new card offers (how I am building my balance starting with Gold Delta and then Platinum personal and business cards) rather than transfer!

  2. Yeah, I just noticed the 4 nights in an Ireland castle was supposed to end on the 13th and then the end date magically extended to the 19th and now to the 21st. Not very impressed. Kind of a scammy way of doing auctions if you ask me.
