Card Features and Benefits
United Club Access
Receive two one-time passes each year for the United Club. That alone is potentially worth more than the card’s $100 annual fee.
Checked Bag
You and a travel companion can check your first and second bags for free when traveling on United-marketed and operated flights. That’s a potential savings of up to $140 per roundtrip.
Priority Boarding
25% Statement Credit
Earn 25% back in statement credit for United inflight and Club premium drink purchases. Most airline cards do not include statement credits for drink purchases in airline club lounges — but the United℠ Explorer Card does.
Up to $100 Global Entry, TSA PreCheck® or NEXUS fee credit
Access to The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection
Book stays at select upscale properties and enjoy certain amenities such as resort credit, breakfast credit, upgrades (when available), and early and late check-out when available.
Complimentary DashPass Subscription
Enjoy a complimentary one-year subscription to DashPass: DoorDash’s subscription program. Active until canceled by the member. Enrollment required before December 31, 2024. (Not yet a DoorDash member? Get $5 off your first DoorDash order over $25 when you sign-up using this link.)
Considering the United℠ Explorer Card has a $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95 there are some fairly easy-to-enjoy benefits (Club passes, statement credit, etc.) that make it worth holding the card. Like most of the other United cards, you’re better off making purchases on a Chase Ultimate Rewards® card and transferring the points to your United Mileage Plus account.
While the card awards 2X miles for hotel purchases, you might want to look into cobranded hotel cards with better earnings.
