Boy, as much as I gripe about the low value of Delta points when it comes to redemptions for international business class travel – Delta SkyMiles Experiences Auctions just keeps stepping up their offers again and again and again. Last week an 11 day Windstar cruises for the Emerald Isle & Scottish Highlands onboard the Star Pride, that I was really interested in, closed for just under 400,000 points. Considering it would have cost you $6,600+ for two people that is getting a decent return for those of us who value a Delta point at 1 cent each.

I love with these auctions that wifi, taxes and fees are included (daily tips are not – so plan for that). My guess is both of these will go for the 200,000-400,000 point range so if you don’t have that kind of SkyMiles balance do not bid on these.
Lastly, and I know other readers have been upset about this “feature” of these auctions in the past, be aware if bids are too low the site may extend the ending of the auction by hours or even days so you have to keep following up to see if you have to sneak in another bid to win. – René
