I have posted a number of these auctions and the winning bids have all resulted in simply amazing value for your Delta Skymiles (vs spending them on Delta flights, that is). There are currently two cruises up for auction and as of today’s posting the bids are well under 100,000 Delta points each and that is stunning value for this cruise. Take a look:

The auctions are set to end on November 16th (LINK TO BOTH AUCTIONS HERE). If no one bids toward the end then the auction will simply close – but if there is active bidding they will extend the auction until bidding stops. Considering these cabins are going for around $17,000 for two I expect the final bids to be rather high but there is still a shot at getting truly oversized value from your Delta points.

Other things to keep in mind are, from reading the T&C in the auction, all taxes and normally high port fees and such ARE included so depending on the bids this could be a very good deal for a balcony cabin in what looks like an amazing cruise.

What is NOT included is the daily per-person tips for workers on the ship so it will add $18 per person per day on top of your winning bid in Skymiles. Also notice that this does NOT include adult beverages and without a daily plan that can be very expensive if you have a number of drinks per day. Airfare is NOT covered as part of the auction so you will have to get yourself to and from departure city and home again after the cruise (Sydney, Australia in this case).

You will want to arrive at least 1 or 2 days early to the departure port as the ship will leave without you if you do not make it to the ship in time!

I have to tell you I would LOVE to go for this one as I have always wanted to do this cruise but can not make the dates work for me. Are you bidding on any of these amazing voyages with your Skypennies? – René
