Who doesn’t like an enjoyable night at the movies? Especially if you can accomplish that in the comfort of your own cozy sofa at home!  Some guests on a recent Carnival cruise enjoy their cozy at-home movie nights so much they brought everything they needed to set up their stateroom as their own private cinema-room! Crazy?!

Now I fully realize that I bring plenty of comforts of home items to make my cruises as enjoyable as possible. I have shared some of my top items I always bring with me and we are always on the lookout for new ideas of things that might make our cruises even more enjoyable and our stateroom more useful. These magnetic hooks are the latest item we are thinking of adding to our bag of goodies!

The article also mentioned safety issues with this set up including risk of fire, personal injury or injury to crew members including cabin attendants who might enter the room. Another point not mentioned is that the magnets used to hold a projector to the ceiling must be really strong. Have you ever seen what a strong magnet can do to, say, electronics? You would have to be extremely careful what you packed next to these items in your luggage ad anything with memory could be affected.

A cruise ship is full of entertainment on it’s own! There are the shows, movies by the pool, activities and games, slides, sports, and even go-carts! Isn’t at least some of the point of going on a cruise to get out there and experience new things? Why would you want to spend your cruise in your darkened stateroom ordering room service and watching movies? Aside from the safety risks of this idea I think it’s just ridiculous and if that’s your idea of enjoying cruising perhaps it’s not for you! – René
