A credit card with dozens of partners just increased its welcome offer for new members.

And before you see which card it is and go, “But I don’t fly that airline!” let me explain why it might be worth your consideration.

70,000 Bonus Points

The Aeroplan® Credit Card offers new applicants 70,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first three (3) months of being approved for the card. The card previously offered 60,000 bonus points for three grand.

Aeroplan is Air Canada’s loyalty program. But you don’t necessarily need to fly Air Canada to take advantage of Aeroplan points.

Air Canada is part of Star Alliance and has partners outside of that, too. That means you can redeem your Aeroplan points across a number of great airlines. (Yes, Emirates, Lufthansa, and Singapore are a few of them!)

  • Aegean Airlines
  • Air Canada
  • Air China
  • Air Creebec
  • Air Dolomiti
  • Air India
  • Air Mauritius
  • Air New Zealand
  • Air Serbia
  • All Nippon Airways (ANA)
  • Asiana
  • Austrian Airlines
  • Avianca
  • Azul
  • Bamboo Airways

If you’re like René and Lisa and enjoy crossings, the Aeroplan Card could help you get to (or back from) a foreign port by using one of Aeroplan’s codeshare partners. It’s worth noting that United Airlines is also one of Aeroplan’s partners.

Aeroplan is linked with several credit card loyalty programs such as Chase Ultimate Rewards and Capital One Travel. Thus, you could have a nice option to transfer points toward a great redemption.

Aeroplan Credit Card Details

Here’s how the Aeroplan Card‘s points earnings break down:

  • 3X points for each eligible dollar spent at grocery stores
  • 3X on dining at restaurants
  • 3X with Air Canada directly
  • 1X on all other eligible purchases

Plus, you’ll receive 500 bonus points for every $2,000 you spend in a calendar month – up to 1,500 points per month. So, if you knock out the welcome offer’s minimum spending requirement — and then a little more — you could make the bonus even more rewarding.

Travel benefits-wise:

  • The cardmember and up to eight companions on the same confirmation number enjoy their first checked bag for free. (Bags must be 50 pounds or lighter.)
  • Earn up to $100 in statement every four years as reimbursement for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS application fees.
  • Occasional preferred pricing on award flights.

There are no foreign transaction fees. The card’s annual fee is $95.

Time to Set Sail!
