Delta’s “SkyMiles Experiences” has put up a number of new auctions for cruises using your Delta SkyMiles as payment (if you win that is). Depending on the final price this can be a way to extract HUGE value vs. the relatively low (think about 1 cent each) of Delta SkyMiles points. Here are the links to the current live auctions:

All of the auctions do include a balcony cabin and your cruise. Note per the T&C you will have to pay the daily gratuities (but you could ask for them back if not pleased with the service) and you will clearly have to pay for transport to the port as well as any hotel before and after your cruise (hello hotel points). Also you must be 21+ or sail with someone 21+ and adult beverage or specialty drinks are not included.

I have monitored a number of these auctions over the years and if I were to bid I would look at a maximum bid where I am getting at least 2 cents per SkyMiles in value – less than that and you might as well use the SkyMiles to fly but that is up to you if you have an abundance of points in your account! – René
