As a reminder, I value Delta SkyMiles around 1 cent each after years of devaluations and the destruction of the award program. If you can get more than that value you are coming out ahead. Delta also has a “SkyMiles Experiences” program that lets you bid on unique adventures spending your SkyMiles.

I posted last week about a Beachboys NCL 5 day cruise that went for between 88,000 and 139,000 SkyMiles that is between about $880 to $1,390 in value. Well there is another cruise from New York City. Take a look:

a screenshot of a website

They are offering 2 auctions that all end in a staggered close (<-LINK) so if you get outbid on one you have a shot at the other. The bid includes the following:

This Broadway Cruise package includes: A five (5) night round trip cruise for two (2) guests in a ‘Balcony Cabin’ aboard the Norwegian Gem on The Broadway Cruise departing from Port of New York – Manhattan, NY and traveling to Bermuda:
Departure Date: Friday, March 31, 2023
Return Date: Wednesday, April 5, 2023
The Broadway Cruise includes: Admission for two (2) to all performances. All meals while onboard Norwegian Gem from Friday through Wednesday, March 31- April 5, 2023. There’s gourmet fare in the dining rooms, a full buffet, and casual restaurants open for meals all day and night. Non-carbonated beverages (i.e. filtered water, non-pressed juices, teas, and drip-coffee). Use of the ship’s beautiful pool and hot tubs (all with plenty of deck space to enjoy a cocktail and some great music). Use of the Norwegian Gem’s amenities such as: health and fitness center, full-size sports court, access to the casino, and more Norwegian’s Youth Program facilities and activities if bringing children Onboard Activities for two (2) guests, that include: Live shows and performances, Q&A’s + more to be announced!

The Norwegian Gem is a Jewel Class ship with max passengers just under 2400. In other words, this is not a mega ship. I have sailed the ship pre-refurbishment and have a review here on EyeOfTheFlyer (the Gem was refurbished in 2020 fyi).

It seems, from reading the T&C in the auction, all taxes and normally high port fees and such ARE included so depending on the bids this could be a good deal for a balcony cabin cruise that seems to be sold out.

What is NOT included is the daily per person tips for workers on the ship so it will add $160 on top of your winning bid in Skymiles. Also notice that this does NOT include adult beverages and without a daily plan that can be very expensive if you have a number of drinks per day. Airfare is NOT covered as part of the auction so you will have to get yourself to and from NYC if you do not already live in the area.

Lastly the only other thing not really addressed is if you will get any Latitudes perks if you have status with NCL. I would assume so as it is 5 days (the cut off for many perks i.e. 5 nights or more) but don’t 100% bank on it as it is not covered in the T&C.

FYI There is also a 4 day cruise out of Miami up for auction called “Keeping the Blues Alive” that could be fun but I am not a fan of really short cruises like this one, that is, to spend the money to fly and stay before the cruise. That said, if you live near the Miami cruise port you may want to take a look at it.

I am not bidding on either of these personally because I can not make the dates for the cruise work for me but if I were free I would personally bid upward of 100,000 Skymiles for a chance to enjoy the 5 day cruise! – René
