Delta Skymiles are worth around 1 cent each after years of devaluations and the destruction of the award program. Anytime you can get more that that value you are coming out ahead. Delta also has a “Skymiles Experiences” program that lets you bid on unique adventures spending your Skymiles. These auction are rarely, if ever, a good value as the bid prices compared to the cost to buy a similar experience are simply crazy.
That said, at least at the time of publication of this post, the prices for a 5 day NCL cruise featuring the Beach Boys is a reasonable value.
They are offering 3 auctions that all end today in a staggered close (<-LINK) so if you get outbid on one you have a shot at the other. The bid includes the following:
This The Beach Boys Good Vibrations Cruise package includes: A five (5) night round trip cruise for two (2) guests in a ‘Balcony Cabin’ aboard Norwegian Pearl on The Beach Boys Good Vibrations Cruise departing from Port of Miami, Florida and traveling to Harvest Caye, Belize & Costa Maya, Mexico:
Departure Date: Friday, March 3, 2023
Return Date: Wednesday, March 8, 2023
The Beach Boys Good Vibrations Cruise includes: Admission for two (2) to all shows. All meals while onboard Norwegian Pearl from Friday through Wednesday, March 3-8, 2023. There’s gourmet fare in the dining rooms, a full buffet, and casual restaurants open for meals all day and night Non-carbonated beverages (i.e. filtered water, non-pressed juices, teas, and drip-coffee). Use of the ship’s beautiful pool and hot tubs (all with plenty of deck space to enjoy a cocktail and some great music). Use of the Norwegian Pearl’s amenities such as: health and fitness center, full-size sports court, access to the casino, video arcade, and more Norwegian’s Youth Program facilities and activities if bringing children Onboard Activities for two (2) guests, that include: Live shows, Q&A, and photo with The Beach Boys+ more to be announced! Good Vibrations are coming back to the open seas in 2023! The Beach Boys Good Vibrations Cruise, presented by Club Kokomo Spirits, will set sail for a 2nd time March 3-8, 2023, from Miami to Harvest Caye, Belize and Costa Maya, Mexico.
The Norwegian Pearl is a Jewel Class ship with max passengers just under 2400. In other words, this is not a mega ship but having sailed on the sister ships in the class I can tell you it is very nice and has recently been refurbished.
It seems, from reading the T&C in the auction, all taxes and normally high port fees and such ARE included so depending on the bids this could be a good deal for a balcony cabin in what looks like a sold-out cruise.
What is NOT included is the daily per person tips for workers on the ship so it will add $160 on top of your winning bid in Skymiles. Also notice that this does NOT include adult beverages and without a daily plan that can be very expensive if you have a number of drinks per day. Airfare is NOT covered as part of the auction so you will have to get yourself to and from Miami if you do not already live in the area.
Lastly the only other thing not really addressed is if you will get any Latitudes perks if you have status with NCL. I would assume so but don’t bank on it as it is not covered in the T&C.
I am not bidding on this one personally because I can not make the dates for the cruise work for me but if I were free I would personally bid upward of 100,000 Skymiles for a chance to enjoy this cruise! – René
UPDATE: Here are the final results for the three auctions. The first winner got a good deal. The second over paid a little. The third? Well they have less Skymiles now but get to go on a NCL cruise.
