What an insane week. Earliest CAT 5 hurricane ever in the Caribbean, heat so high you can cook without a stove and flooding rains beyond belief – just crazy right? It makes you rethink just where you want to go on vacation this time of the year. Speaking of vacations:

While California is cooking in record stifling heat that makes me soooo happy to live in the Midwest the state has passed a law that has impacted all of us who search for a cruise and the result is a jump in the price you will see. Take a look why that is.

This next part is important if you like the blog (and want to see it keep going) and if you like NOT paying for hotel nights and more. There are some stunning card offers right now and you really should take a look at them (and – want to see the blog continue – we need your support)!

When it comes to dining on a cruise ship for the majority of us the biggest issue is what to choose from the menu. We may not like some options but others have real dietary restrictions.. Michael covers some things that can come up.

Lastly, speaking of our amazing author Michael, he covers more about hotel options if you are planning on a Panama canal cruise and need to stay pre or post cruise.

I spent the week, again, tweaking my upcoming trips. I decided to dump a ridiculously low Delta SkyPennies award ticket for a cheap 1st class paid ticket that I used 2x$200 credits from Delta Gold Business Amex 10k x 2 spend and will wait for a schedule change to pick the perfect flight (are we learning yet?). Bottom line always look for the best deal and never stop changing your trip until you take the trip! – René

  1. This headline is SO misleading: “Big Jump in Cruise Prices – Why? ” Some readers will use the link, have that message in their memory, see California, and go off on yet another rant. Was that your intention?

Of course, we know that the prices haven’t changed, it is just that the California law has made it a “what you see is what you pay” situation ather than hidden fees. So why that headline? Why not something like “Honesty in Cruise Prices”
